OUR HISTORY

MotherShip Studios is a women-built, owned, and operated art space in Central Texas founded in 2020 by Courtney Peterson and Jacqueline Overby. Located inside an industrial warehouse park along San Marcos HWY 80, we offer affordable studio spaces for local artists, and various community  programs hosted inside a 600 sq ft gallery space. In 2023, MotherShip Studios developed the first San Marcos Studio Tour as part of their annual programming efforts. By 2024 they were hosting the tour, several curated exhibitions, and art-themed events throughout the year. Now in 2025, they expanded the tour to two weekends. Please follow the link below for more information about Mothership Studios and how to get involved.

OUR MISSION

As one of the few dedicated, local studio spaces, our programming is geared toward uniting the Central Texas area artists, serving as a conduit between the San Antonio and Austin communities. Our events include the San Marcos Studio Tour, Blast Suppers, and curated gallery exhibitions. Through our 501(c)(3) non-profit fiscal sponsor, The Museum of Human Achievement, we are able to accept charitable, tax-deductible donations. All proceeds go towards supporting MotherShip Studios’ community-oriented goals. Our 2025 events are supported in part by the City of San Marcos Arts Commission.
